If you've never been a fan of Dancing with the Stars, maybe a Joliet native performing this season will be enough to lure you to the fold.
TMZ is reporting comedian/actor Andy Dick, a graduate -- and homecoming king -- of Joliet Township High School, has just signed on to compete against the likes of country singer Wynonna Judd, comedian D.L. Hughley and boxer Victor Ortiz.
Dick has had his share of career ups-and-downs, and more than his share of drug addiction problems and arrests, but the celeb Web site is reporting that "one source insists Andy is taking the competition very seriously and wants to prove that he's for real."
Dick, 47, has starred in such shows as NewsRadio and Less Than Perfect and been in such movies as Road Trip and Dr. Dolittle 2, but he's probably better known these days for his stint on Celebrity Rehab and his slew of arrests for such things as public intoxication, indecent exposure, battery and drug possession.
Perhaps Dancing producers are hoping the loose cannon Andy Dick shows up to goose ratings and maybe to offer a little comic relief, but perhaps this is the thing that ends up resparking his floundering career.
Guess we'll have to tune in to find out. Season 16 kicks off March 18.
