Ref: Monday, March 11th Herald-News"Pulse" article regarding the mayoral debates:

Perhaps what Steve McMichael meant to say instead of “a debate would be 'boring' and unfair” was that it would be extremely embarrassing because it would demonstrate just how totally unqualified he is to expect to head the government of any village. He has absolutely "zero" experience!

There was an adage back when I was a kid that read: “Crawl before you walk and walk before you run.” Shortly after he moves into town (into a rented apartment) he announces he is going to run for mayor to makes the schools better for his child. Does he not know that schools are governed by school districts which are completely separate from local governments and mayors have minimal if any impact on their decisions?

Would it not make more sense to perhaps attend village board meetings and/or maybe get involved in village affairs via committees and then consider running for a trustee’s position before running for mayor first thing?

Come on, Mr. McMichael, it’s not too late for a debate and contrary to your statement, I suspect it wouldn’t be boring, at all. Give us, the voters, a chance to see and judge for ourselves which candidate is best. As far as the incumbent having the advantage of “seeing the village books," they are a matter of public record. Maybe you should read up a little so the debate would be fair.

Sincerely,

James M. Gottlick
