A downstate man already convicted of threatening Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow on Facebook was found unfit to face new charges of menacing public officials.

Jason Chance, 40, was returned to jail after a Monday morning court hearing but will be transferred to a facility run by the Illinois Department of Human Services.

Chance has already taken a two-year prison sentence for making threats against Glasgow in 2010. According to a criminal complaint, Chance made a Facebook post "containing a threat to rape and kill James Glasgow." Chance was also charged with "cyberstalking" Glasgow.

On top of the prison sentence, Chance was also hit with 30 months of probation with special conditions. Chance allegedly violated that probation by making threatening telephone calls to Will County Judge Matthew Bertani, Channahon Village Clerk Janet Schumacher and to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

Chance was arrested last month for the alleged violations.

During Monday's hearing, Judge Daniel Rozak denied a petition for post-conviction relief Chance penned himself. In the rambling, often profane petition, Chance takes aim at Will County Sheriff Paul Kaupas, county police Detective Cory Burket, Judge Rozak, special prosecutor Charles Colburn, court security and bailiffs, Assistant State's Attorneys Chris Regis and Adam Capelli, Public Defender Frank Astrella, Assistant Public Defenders Dan Kennedy and Greg DeBord, Will County Circuit Clerk Pamela McGuire, and two probation officers, among others.

Chance, a resident of Lewiston, a town southwest of Peoria, tried to represent himself at Wednesday's hearing and argued with his attorney, Kennedy, before it commenced.

"I cannot be fired until you're found fit," Kennedy said to Chance, telling him to read a psychiatric evaluation filed under seal earlier this month. Chance replied that if he was examined by a different doctor, "I guarantee you'll get different results."

The doctor who conducted the evaluation, Randi Zoot, believes Chance might be ready to face the charges within a year. Rozak ordered Chance back to court May 28 to check his progress.

Chance asked to speak near the end of the hearing but Rozak refused him
