Romeoville Police Blotter: Vehicle Stolen After Shopper Leaves Keys Inside

April 12

A business in the 400 block of South Weber Road reported a retail theft after an unknown person "returned merchandise to the store under fraudulent circumstances," police said. The estimated cost of the merchandise is $138.84.

A shoplifter made off with 10 DVDs worth a total of $234.95 from a business in the 400 block of North Weber Road, according to police.

April 14

Someone egged a home in the 600 block of Mendota Lane, causing $50 in damage to the siding, police said.

April 16

A resident in the 0-100 block of Paladino Drive reported that an unknown person or people removed a laptop work $250 from the home, police said.

April 18

Someone attempted to take $200 worth of miscellaneous groceries from a business in the 400 block of South Weber Road, according to police. "When encountered by the business security, the unknown person fled the scene," police said.

A customer at a business in the 0-100 block of Alexander Circle reported a motor vehicle theft. Police said the customer entered the business, leaving the keys in the car, and an unknown male entered the vehicle and drove off. Estimated value of the car is $4,800.

Cash, an iPad and sports memorabilia were stolen during a burglary after someone smashed a rear window of a home in the 1300 block of Alder Creek Drive, police said. Estimated value of the items plus the cost to repair the window is $3,894.

April 22

Someone used a brick to break the front windshield and rear driver's side window on a vehicle parked in the street in front of a home in the 300 block of McKool Avenue, police said. Estimated cost to repair the damage is $300.
