Editor's note: The following is a press release from Valley View School District 365U.
Valley View School District 365U high school students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 8 following a morning of standardized testing.
Freshmen will take the EXPLORE test which will be used for future course placements, determination of any necessary supports and as a predictor for future student performance.
Sophomores will take the PLAN test, which is a “pre-ACT” designed to help prepare students for the Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE).
Juniors will take the retired ACT test as a method of practicing for the springtime PSAE.
Seniors who have already taken the PSAE won’t have school on Nov. 8 but are encouraged to use the day as a college/career day by utilizing it for college placement tests, campus visits, job interviews or job shadowing opportunities. An alternative activity will be provided for BHS students whose parents want them to remain in school that day but the school must be notified in advance by calling 630-679-3442. RHS seniors who come to school will have a study hall in the auditorium.
Breakfast will be served from 7 to 7:25 a.m. on Nov. 8 but lunch will not. Regular bus service will be provided following the 11:30 a.m. early dismissal.
