A heart was found in the parking lot of the Walgreens at Ingalls and Larkin avenues in Joliet Sunday was not human, Coroner Pat O'Neill said.
An autopsy conducted Monday indicated the organ, discovered at about 5 p.m. on the east side of the 1801 Ingalls Ave., store, came from an animal, O'Neill said. No further tests were conducted to determine what type of animal, he said.

The Joliet Police Department is handling the incident. It's not known whether there were any other items found with the heart or leads on why it may have been left in the parking lot.
