An unincorporated Plainfield man is accused of stealing a car that was left running and unattended from a Romeoville gas station earlier this year.
Jeremiah Terry Komon, 33, of the 5400 block of Keystone Court was arrested and booked into the Will County jail March 21 on charges stemming from an incident in January.
Romeoville Assistant Police Chief Steven Lucchesi said a patron was inside the Speedway convenience store at Weber and Normantown roads at about 1:20 p.m. Jan. 29 when he looked outside and noticed someone speeding away in his 2005 Jaguar.
Lucchesi said Komon jumped into the car, which was left running and unoccupied, and took off.
Later, police received information that the stolen Jaguar was parked at an intersection in Chicago. A detective discovered the unoccupied vehicle, along with some evidence that linked Komon to the crime, Lucchesi said.
According to police, Komon is also charged in another incident earlier in the day on Jan. 29, when he allegedly burglarized a car parked at another Weber Road business. This time, Lucchesi said, Kumon broke into a vehicle parked at Wendy's and stole a debit card.
Kumon was booked into the Will County jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and burglary. His bond was set at $100,000.
